Bamboo dish cloth
Bamboo dish cloth is a Kierti classic – it has been in production since 2008. The dish cloth is made of two layers of Finnish bamboo stretch terry, and is highly absorbent. It is suitable as a dish cloth in the kitchen as well for all kinds of cleaning in the house. In dusting, the product works well both dry and wet due to its texture. Because of its great ability to absorb moisture, the bamboo dish cloth dries a little slower than the hemp dish cloth. Despite that it will not start to smell musty very easily. The material is 82% soft bamboo viscose and 18% polyester to improve the durability. Wash in 60 C.
Production: The material arrives in Finland as yarn and is knitted into fabric in Orivesi. The fabric is hand screen printed in Porvoo where the products are also sewn and finalised.
Bamboo floor wipe
Bamboo floor wipe is made of two layers of bamboo stretch terry. It is suitable for both dry mopping as well as wet and damp wiping. It fits approximately 40cm wide floor wipers.
Production: The material arrives in Finland as yarn and is knitted into fabric in Orivesi. The fabric is hand screen printed in Porvoo where the products are also sewn and finalised.
Material information
Bamboo viscose stretch terry
The bamboo fabric we use is bamboo viscose. It is manufactured by a viscose spinning process. The bamboo is the world’s fastest growing plant and it does not require a lot fertilisers or pesticides. Because the bamboo grows so fast, it also absorbs a great deal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Bamboo viscose is antistatic and soft, and therefore pleasant to use. However, it might accumulate a little bit of lint. Bamboo viscose is also non-allergic and biodegradable. The best part is that it will not start to smell when used in the kitchen! The bamboo we use is cultivated (in Asia) so it is not off the menu of any animal.
Hemp dish cloth
Hemp dish cloth is rougher and suitable for all kinds of scrubbing – without scratching the surfaces. The hemp dish cloth is made of a single layer of fabric and it dries quickly. The material is 88% hemp-cotton blend and 12% polyester.
Production: The material arrives in Finland as yarn and is knitted into fabric in Orivesi. Occasionally, there are fabric batches in production that have not been knitted in Finland.
Material information
Hemp cotton stretch terry
Hemp is an old material used in sails, ropes and other textiles that require good moisture resistance. It tolerates microbes well and dries fairly quickly. Therefore, it is suitable also for kitchen use. The hemp is a very ecological plant to cultivate. Hemp in our hemp dish cloth is of European origin. Our dish cloths have also cotton from either Central Asia or Middle East in the mix, and a small amount of polyester to give it durability.
Tencel dish cloth
Tencel dish cloth is the newest member of our product family. It is made of single layer finnish tencel- strech terry. It is also the largest of our dish cloth products (28 x 28 cm). This dishcloth dries up quickly although it is highly absorbent. It also stays fresh for a long time. It is suitable for heavy scrubbing also. Material is 100% tencel fabric, made of wood. Wash in 60 c degrees.
Material information
Tencel
Tencel is a tradename for lyocell-fabric manufactured in Europe. The fabric is made of cellulose (wood) manufactured by responsible forest industry. Tencel yarn is made the same way as viscose, but more ecologically. Less chemicals are used or they are either recycled or cleansed. Also less energy is used compared to when producing viscose. Tens of times less water is used compared to when producing cotton. The tencel-fabric that we use is made 100% of tencel and thus does not contain any polyester.
Tea towel
Tea towel is of cotton-linen blend (50% / 50%) made in Europe. The material is excellent as a tea towel because it hardly accumulates lint and it becomes highly absorbent after few washes. Shrinkage in longitudinal direction is approximately 5%. Stretch the tea towel back to its original shape by stretching it in longitudinal direction after wash when it is still wet.
Production: The fabric is manufactured in Europe. The towels are cut in Aitoo and printed at the same place, partly with solar energy (calculatorily every fourth towel has been printed completely with solar energy), sewn in Pirkanmaa and finalised in Porvoo.
Cotton linen
Our tea towel fabric is so-called half-linen, i.e. a fabric in which the warp consists of cotton yarn and the weft of linen yarn. Half-linen fabric is light and airy, highly absorbent and fairly lint-free. The fabric we use has been woven in Eastern Europe, in the old linen regions of Europe. Farming the flax plant that produces linen does not demand a lot of pesticides, irrigation or fertilisers. Furthermore, it is a very resistant fibre. For these reasons, linen is an ecological material.
