”Mesikämmen” is a Finnish ”nickname” for a bear. In the old times, people believed that calling a bear by some other name made it less dangerous. Therefore, the Finnish language has several nicknames for a bear.

Bamboo dish cloth is a Kierti classic – it has been in production since 2008. The dish cloth is made of two layers of Finnish bamboo stretch terry and is highly absorbent. It is suitable as a dish cloth in the kitchen as well for all kinds of cleaning in the house. In dusting, the product works well both dry and wet due to its texture. Because of its great ability to absorb moisture, the bamboo dish cloth dries a little slower than the hemp dish cloth. Despite that it will not start to smell musty very easily. The material is 82% soft bamboo viscose and 18% polyester to improve the durability. Wash in 60 C.

Production: The material arrives in Finland as yarn and is knitted into fabric in Orivesi. The fabric is hand screen printed in Porvoo where the products are also sewn and finalised.

Description

Bamboo viscose stretch terry. The bamboo fabric we use is bamboo viscose. It is manufactured by a viscose spinning process. The bamboo is the world’s fastest growing plant and it does not require a lot fertilisers or pesticides. Because the bamboo grows so fast, it also absorbs a great deal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Bamboo viscose is antistatic and soft, and therefore pleasant to use. However, it might accumulate a little bit of lint. Bamboo viscose is also non-allergic and biodegradable. The best part is that it will not start to smell when used in the kitchen! The bamboo we use is cultivated (in Asia) so it is not off the menu of any animal.
